CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS

The last 24th of this year isn't the first night that i welcomed Christmas all by myself. I have spent some few years back walking my way home from the 24th evening mass just in time for 12 midnight. I have been accustomed to my solitary life during yuletide seasons, but not much having too much aversion for the holidays.

I spent the last few hours of the 24th attending the evening mass. The attendees scattered in front of the church tripled in density, but i managed to squeezed myself inside enough for me to see and hear clearly the mass celebration. Standing for straight three hours with almost little or less air is no mean feat,but with the graces of the good Lord, the skills of endurance i have long mastered in my COCC training have resurfaced. When families were asked to kiss and hug their loved ones, i knelt down, closed my eyes and pray for my loved ones who used to be by my side during this time of the year. It was then that i felt a tiny fang of pain.

I welcomed Christmas with a plate of spaghetti my sister Lai gave in late afternoon, a slice of chocolate cake my sister Lei had baked. I haven't touched the leche plan and graham cake both my sisters had given also, it got me too full digesting the thoughts i had in my mind. I missed my dad's call before dinner, got too busy helping out my sister in her bakery. My uncle's been snoring inside the room, too much alcohol intake before i went off to church. I called in the dogs to feast with me with their own plate of spaghetti and few bread slices. How cool it is to spend my Christmas eve with our dogs :)

Despite the never ending stream of Christmas parties and socials i had, the merry making aren't always really merry. Alone in the table, I miss the times we spend Christmas all together. Most families experience this kind of extinction of members, but each has to move on with their own lives, with their own families. The one that is left behind may feast on the leftovers.. leftovers in their less visible form called memories, stored in the refrigerator of the mind and cupcake of the heart.

Don’t miss 2010’s solstice lunar eclipse tonight!

There is a lunar eclipse on December 21. This December solstice eclipse is also the northernmost total lunar eclipse for several centuries.

There won’t be a total lunar eclipse this far north on the sky’s dome until December 21, 2485.

That’s because this eclipse is happening almost simultaneously with the December solstice – which in 2010 occurs on December 21 – when the sun will be southernmost for this year. Remember, a totally eclipsed full moon has to lie exactly opposite the sun. The winter sun rides low to the south now, as it crosses the sky each day. So this December full moon is far to the north on the sky’s dome. It rides high in the sky – much like the June solstice sun.

Remember, it’s the same eclipse – happening in the same magical moments – for all of us.

A total lunar eclipse takes place whenever the moon passes right through the Earth’s dark umbral shadow. This can only happen at full moon, which is when the moon has swung directly opposite the sun in our sky, in its monthly orbit of Earth. During tonight’s total lunar eclipse, the moon will be totally immersed in Earth’s shadow for 72 minutes. A partial eclipse lasting for nearly the same period of time will precede and follow the total eclipse. The entire eclipse from start to finish will last about 3.5 hours.

TELEPHONE EFFECT

I feel so terribly remorseful after i found that a cat had been let out in the bag. The cat had been caught in the grapevines primarily due to the public presscon done by a gossiper. If we were in an excel worksheet, a circular reference error would have been flashed. Unfortunately, no error message had occurred, but slander, and verbal and moral torture done by those who in first place did the crime.

Hectic 3rd week is now on its way as i need to see Jona, Annie and Mitch for an early Christmas dinner later after work. Tomorrow is Yna's birthday so i need to work twice as fast tomorrow so we could go out at three. Saturday's the big day for our dearest Sheim, but morning i still need to bring the breads and used clothes to be donated in a gift-giving ceremony my friend Erica had organized.

The Super Heroine me is trying to get some rest in between ^_^

It felt good in a morning having talked to a Muslim officemate. I had a nice chat with her over a smooth ride to the office, and the exchange of conversation had somehow filled the minute gaping void i had solemnly kept.

It felt like the entire thirty-minute chat is more than an hour of inspiration. I respect her and her religion with all my might, just as i would to anyone having different religious beliefs. As some points during the conversation, i did feel connected in some ways i couldn't decipher.

Guess I'm missing someone so dearly. And if you are reading this, you know who you are.

Nightmare

Nightmare i had last night.

Superhero's a vampire. He was protecting me all the time. Then the villain came. Superhero disappeared. I was crying to death. The villain tried to kill me. I cried harder. Gasped deeper for breath.

When a massive wave of depression struck me, i had no way of articulating what would happen to me.

I was wallowing with my depressing emotions yesterday that i needed a breathe of fresh air and a few moments to spend in reflection.

I know that God had long been testing my faith and that i must never give up no matter how difficult the burden is. It has been a very very long day, working on a holiday with a big and heavy heart must have been a herculean task that i have gotten myself accustomed into. A few times i have to slump myself inside the bathroom floor and just let the tears ran down my cheeks, after which i have to stand up and face the entirety of the world.

When a massive wave of depression struck me, i had no way of articulating what would happen to me.

As the cold wind of Christmas seeps through my skin, i am thankful for the moon and jupiter above for being with me last night.

OVERHEAT

I clocked in late for work today. I had to stop right after exiting the slex because my car's temperature had fast risen.

Before the gauge hit the red line, i switched off the engine and parked on the side. Not that my heart is racing, but i wasn't too tough to open the radiator for fear of getting splashed by hot water. I called Kuya Manny and he was indeed very kind enough to rescue me, though it would mean tardiness for both of us. In less than 15minutes he was there for my call, my cousin also happened to pass by and spend time to help us out.

The expansion reservoir was full but the radiator was drained. My bad. The radiator cap is faulty enough for the circulation. But i still need to have my radiator cleaned to prevent further problems. Foremost, i have none to blame but myself for failing to check the car before using it. That's a real shame.

Nevertheless, I'm one blessed girl in a friday morning for having God's favour and protection channeled through His pipelines in the form of Kuya Manny and Kuya King.

I think the people behind Kenny Rogers Roasters in SM Calamba don't realize the importance of safety in their store.
I went there last night for a grilled fish meal that wasn't available on any other food chains there. I almost got suffocated in the smoke that was coming from their grill and was spreading in the dining area. For a moment, i thought of it as an isolated incident at that very moment, and the smoke would gradually cease to exist, so me and my friend decided to pursue our dinner and just chose a table that was a bit farther from where the smoke was coming. We happen to find one in the right corner. So while my friend is queued for our orders, i just sat and started to tame the curiosity that was brewing inside me.

But the odds are great. If i am a cat, i would have used up my seven lives for entertaining my curiosity. LOLS. While the smoke was spreading faster and bigger in the dining area, i began to wonder if there were any smoke alarm/ detector installed in the store.

And i found not ONE, but A LOT. It was installed in an array, a perfect matrix of rows and columns in the ceiling.
But lo and behold, it's either they were intentionally turned off, or not even working.

For a smoke that full and fast spreading, i wonder how silent and how numb their alarms were.

For a business that is just operating for barely two weeks with a situation such as these, i wonder if any one from the safety department is concerned. Or were they even given permits to operate without proper safety inspection? For crying out loud! They were in grilled food business and they should have at least fine-tuned their operations so as not to suffocate their customers!

I just dawned on me how in the hell could they operate on such situation where they see their customers being suffocated. It's so frustrating how business thrives well at the expense of the comfort of the consumers. Even more frustrating that consumers are still willing to shell out some bucks to satisfy their cravings served at that specific dining.

I was still in college when an incident in Waltermart Calamba about a small fire from an alleged leaking gas tank in a food chain caused alarm and panic to the consumers inside the mall. Some of my friends who got caught inside were forced to their way out through the cinema's exit, after which they have to jump through a wall to get to the other side of the fence for their escape. No one would ever want this to happen again.

With the swarm of people frequenting SM Calamba since its opening two weeks ago, we just hope that the proper authorities will do their part in securing the safety of their people, beyond profit and gains.

I managed to salvage few shots from my d40 despite of the shutter error it kept on displaying during the location shoot itself. It was kind of depressing, if not very stressful, but nevertheless, i enjoyed the whole experience of being in a bunch of cool, wacky, friendly and professionals from NCP.
