Here's for my 2011

Last year, my friend Jojit and I started exchanging targets, goals, and dreams for the new year. We list the things that swing between the specific and not that specific, issues and things that range from just anything under the sun that we want to acquire, achieve, accomplish.

We made a funny but grand list last year and so we thought of doing the same again, sharing to each other just in case an external help would be required in order for us to succeed with our items. lol.

Here's for my 2011:

> 1 travel out of the country for leisure
> minute vacations to at least 2 beaches / island getaway
> mutual funds/stock market investments
> tagaytay lot
> 1 gadget
> new friends at least 12 in a year
> read books at least 12 in a year
> car repaint
> goodbye outstanding credit card balance
> move on with my job, apply and be successful
> continue living a healthy and balance life
> rekindle photography skills
> more foodtrips
> scrapbook!
> marry. LOL . JOKE LANG =)) [asa pa me, nangangarap lang. 'to naman di na mabiro. hahaha]

These were the things that just popped out of my mind the moment i was replying to his email.

This 2011, I'd like to enrich my life with more moments that would take my breath away, as I thank God for this life extension. For someone whose everyday companion is a malady of a sort, heaven knows no beauty than a life extended. Oh God, please do not diffuse the ticking time bomb in my body, I'd like to still have a lot more life with a lot more years :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The first day of work for the year usually kicks in my system as the start of a new year. After hibernating for a few days in the comfort of my bedroom, cashmere sheet pulled up, away from the hustle and bustle of the forging men and machines, i am now back on track. The raggedness and pushiness of my everyday laboring life had already kicked off.
Toll fee had increased from P2 to P6

My I'm NOT a paper cup! cup surviving a year of not being thrown away (again) by our Japanese boss after once being mistaken as a ... well ... a paper cup.

My bitterness at it's finest planner for 2011 . My first to skip on a Starbucks Planner after taking a halt on my coffee addiction.

This is such a year and as i fall into silence of a collective respect, i will strive to make this year a couple of notches better than the past.

Will live healthy by continuously having the right diet for me.
Will pray harder.
Will love like there's no tomorrow.

EAT, PRAY, LOVE for 2011.

Big at Bigby's

The travel from Tanay Rizal back to Cubao had me exhausted, and the hunting for Columbia Photo at Megamall got me tired out completely, so i decided to give myself an emergency rest. I was about to settle for a McDo burger fish fillet but then the store was crowded. I opted to eat at Bigby's instead.

cream and mushroom soup

Note to self:
Don't order a bowl of soup at bigby's if you still want to savor the main course. The soup will keep you full till you can no longer enjoy your meal

I was cobbling up the melancholy wind while spending time with myself. Welcome 2011.

An Online Love Affair

An Online Love Affair

Disclaimer: This is my first and last blog for 2010 and this post is basically an incoherent rambling of a geekette on a sugary caffeine high. Please bear with me.

2010 is drawing to a close in a handful of hours. For me, this has been an extremely remarkable year. A year of myriad emotions that remind me of Skittles; some were bright, some were sweet and some were so tart it made you screw your face up and think if you wanted to spit it out.

This blog is for my Beloved Ohana.

.-=**=-.

Aaaah... cyberspace, the last frontier.

I have always had an intense love affair with words, whether it was reading or writing. Back in college, our sociology professor Dr. Josephine Aguilar told us that in one of her studies, she noticed that most people would make friends because they were thrust upon by circumstance and friendships were formed because people were unconsciously drawn together by their innate commonalities and shared experience. To help us determine if this was true or if we can substantiate this claim, she then made us register on an online forum and made us decide on whether the adage "we can choose our friends but not our family" is applicable to the scenario.

Most of my classmates then sort of complained because they had the preconceived notion that message boards were for people who didn't have anything better to do with their life. They equated it with the then popular MIRC; a place where losers can pretend to be whoever they wanted to be because the other person who was reading your post wouldnt be able to know if you were a boy or a girl.

I registered on PinoyExchange.com, a then fledgling-year-old Filipino owned/moderated message board.

This was the start of a decade long (and going strong) love affair with the Interwebs.

PEx is a place that deals with Philippine issues which caters to the Filipino's love for conversation. This is where I found out that YES, you can choose your friends AND your family.

I have been with PEx for 10 years and have posted hundreds of thousands of replies, met a lot of people (some good, some disgusting) and expanded my family. This is where one of my friend's said back in 05.01.07 when I felt sad and depressed for being single for a long time " I don’t rush into falling in love, for love never runs out. Even if they mock me coz I'm single, I just tell them, God is just busy writing the best love story for me… -Gian”

Five years ago, if someone told me that I was going to be married to the most wonderful man in the world, it would have thrown me into a frenzy of thinking that the next guy I lay my eyes on would've been the one. Thankfully, this didn't happen.

Five years ago, I was this crazy law student who didn't sleep because she was too busy with school AND her two jobs; whose only downtime was in the evenings where she was too punch drunk with digesting cases she had to go out of the library and meet up with the wonderfully interesting people she had talked to in PEx

Aileen: you are the (first) sister I never had. Thank you for taking the initiative to know me. You have been with me through my deepest funks to my highest highs. You dont get mad whenever I go crazy and go hide up in my tower, you patiently wait for me to come back and listen as I rant. Who would've thought that we would end up as each other's Matron-Of-Honor? :) Thank You for being such a specially wonderful lady.

Andy: You are the first person in PEx that I became close to. Thank you for being a constant part of my life, a quiet and simple guy who makes everything alright with the right smart sense of humor that you posses.

Precious: I have always felt honor for you chose me to be your (sometimes) confidant. Thank you for being such a lovely lady, ex-colleague and friend.

Chuck: I dont know if you feel this, but you also have been a quiet companion in my life. My confidant and sounding board. You let me pester you even when you're busy. Your intellect and humor and (sometime) jologness makes you one interesting guy.

Juju: Like Chuck, you have been a constant companion in my life where humor has made my life interestingly light. I love spending time with you.

Lois: You are one of the strongest women I know. You never have given up on life even if it hasnt been fair. In my eyes, you are one of the most beautiful women in the world because you are smart, strong and loving. I am honored to be part of your Life.

Aileen/Andy/Chuck/Juju/Precious/Lois: Thank you for letting me be part of your life. There maybe times that I have been an annoying brat, for that I apologize. I truly appreciate the friendship that we share and hope that it lasts for a long time. You guys are my Ohana.

To my other PEx friends... just because you remain unnamed doesn't mean that you do not hold a special place in my Heart. All I can say is that I have been with PEx longer than most people have been in relationships. Thank you for being a part of my life...

.-=**=-.

The internet also plays a big part in my REAL love story. It allowed me and Zedrick to have constant communication even though we were thousands of miles apart.

Zedrick: My Heart, M'anamchara, My Husband... You are everything that I have prayed to God for and more. I love us. Its like what Elizabeth Gilbert said: "People think a soul mate is your perfect fit and that's what everyone wants, but a true soulmate is a mirror, the person that shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life." I have learned alot from you and am still learning. Thank you Love, for bearing with me through my bratty days, for loving my dorky nerdy geekiness. For whenever I am with you, I can be me without fear of judgement.

Ashley: Thank you for being my Mahal's sister and in turn, for being my sister too. We havent seen each other; yet I feel your love through Zedrick. It is an honor for me that a person who I barely know loves me as much as she loves her bestfriend, for the mere fact that I am the wife of your bestfriend.

.-=**=-.

As 2010 ends, I welcome 2011 with arms wide open because I know that with my Ohana with me; I can survive anything, because they support me and I can be whoever I am destined to be because they inspire me.

Happy New Year!

CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS

The last 24th of this year isn't the first night that i welcomed Christmas all by myself. I have spent some few years back walking my way home from the 24th evening mass just in time for 12 midnight. I have been accustomed to my solitary life during yuletide seasons, but not much having too much aversion for the holidays.

I spent the last few hours of the 24th attending the evening mass. The attendees scattered in front of the church tripled in density, but i managed to squeezed myself inside enough for me to see and hear clearly the mass celebration. Standing for straight three hours with almost little or less air is no mean feat, but with the graces of the good Lord, the skills of endurance i have long mastered in my COCC training have resurfaced. When families were asked to kiss and hug their loved ones, i knelt down, closed my eyes and pray for my loved ones who used to be by my side during this time of the year. It was then that i felt a tiny fang of pain.

I welcomed Christmas with a plate of spaghetti my sister Lai gave in late afternoon, a slice of chocolate cake my sister Lei had baked. I haven't touched the leche plan and graham cake both my sisters had given also, it got me too full digesting the thoughts i had in my mind. I missed my dad's call before dinner, got too busy helping out my sister in her bakery. My uncle's been snoring inside the room, too much alcohol intake before i went off to church. I called in the dogs to feast with me with their own plate of spaghetti and few bread slices. How cool it is to spend my Christmas eve with our dogs :)

Despite the never ending stream of Christmas parties and socials i had, the merry making aren't always really merry. Alone in the table, I miss the times we spend Christmas all together. Most families experience this kind of extinction of members, but each has to move on with their own lives, with their own families. The one that is left behind may feast on the leftovers.. leftovers in their less visible form called memories, stored in the refrigerator of the mind and cupcake of the heart.

MILK AND SAUSAGE

"For all those men who believe there’s no reason to buy the cow when you can get the milk for free… Currently 80% of women are against marriage, too, as they have wised up to the fact that for 7 ounces of sausage it’s not worth buying the whole pig."

LOL.

Don’t miss 2010’s solstice lunar eclipse tonight!

There is a lunar eclipse on December 21. This December solstice eclipse is also the northernmost total lunar eclipse for several centuries.

There won’t be a total lunar eclipse this far north on the sky’s dome until December 21, 2485.

That’s because this eclipse is happening almost simultaneously with the December solstice – which in 2010 occurs on December 21 – when the sun will be southernmost for this year. Remember, a totally eclipsed full moon has to lie exactly opposite the sun. The winter sun rides low to the south now, as it crosses the sky each day. So this December full moon is far to the north on the sky’s dome. It rides high in the sky – much like the June solstice sun.

Remember, it’s the same eclipse – happening in the same magical moments – for all of us.

A total lunar eclipse takes place whenever the moon passes right through the Earth’s dark umbral shadow. This can only happen at full moon, which is when the moon has swung directly opposite the sun in our sky, in its monthly orbit of Earth. During tonight’s total lunar eclipse, the moon will be totally immersed in Earth’s shadow for 72 minutes. A partial eclipse lasting for nearly the same period of time will precede and follow the total eclipse. The entire eclipse from start to finish will last about 3.5 hours.

Lucky sweetie

It's funny to realize that some of my friends whom i haven't seen for quite some time would always ask how my car has been doing instead of asking how life has been treating me.

TELEPHONE EFFECT

I feel so terribly remorseful after i found that a cat had been let out in the bag. The cat had been caught in the grapevines primarily due to the public presscon done by a gossiper. If we were in an excel worksheet, a circular reference error would have been flashed. Unfortunately, no error message had occurred, but slander, and verbal and moral torture done by those who in first place did the crime.

Tsk tsk. Office grapevines.

A lot of what comes down the pike is downright false.

Be wary that if you are good in keeping secrets, some people are just not. Including the ones that you trust the most.
